5/25/2005 - Big Season 5 News: Returning Cast; Premiere Plot

 

CTV ran a press release yesterday for Season 5. In it a bunch of information was revealed. Firstly, as speculated we now have confirmation that Sean and Caitlin will not be returning for season 5 as regulars, although most of the Season 4 cast will return including semi-regulars like Jay, Alex, Danny, and Darcy. Jamie Johnston's character Peter (we announced last month) was also confirmed. Also mysteriously absent from the list is Ashley.

We also got small info on the plot of the season 5 premiere. The article quotes:

"Season 5 begins with Manny anxious to pursue an acting career. Unfortunately, she is not prepared for the harsh realities of living out her Hollywood dream. Meanwhile, Craig receives an unwelcome birthday present from Ashley."

With this small spoiler and Ashley not present in the cast list one can only assume the unwelcome birthday present Craig gets from Ashley is that she is not returning to Degrassi this year. Perhaps she is staying in London? Who knows as it is too early to speculate.

These small "spoilers" are sure to start the rumor mills running about the season 5 opener. Lastly we get a small peek into some of the issues being tackled this season. They include sexuality, drugs, religion and self-esteem.
