12/15/2006 - Season 6 Wraps; Season 7?

Hot on the heels of the announcement of Degrassi's huge syndication deals, we learn Season 7 is now starting to become a reality.

The Executive Producer Stephen Stohn posted a couple posts recently on the Degrassi website stating that Season 6 has finally finished up shooting and there was a big wrap up party. Yet while one season ends they always need to prepare for the future. He states they are starting writing on episodes 701 and 702 of Degrassi. He confidently explains while they haven't been ordered yet they will be ready WHEN they are ordered. His confidence is likely due to the huge success that Season 6 has experienced thus far on both CTV and The N as well as both of their broadband websites.

He also talks of actually starring in a Degrassi mini himself  alongside Lauren, Deanna, Aubrey, and Shane as there was a last minute extra that didn't show up. His full posts are below:

"We finished shooting the Degrassi Minis yesterday, and the Degrassi TV episodes the day before, so tonight is the big wrap party for ALL the cast and crew of BOTH Degrassi and Instant Star--it will be a real blast, almost 600 people, and as always it is at an undisclosed location somewhere in the free world!!!

And the last scene in the last Mini featured four cast members (Lauren, Deanna, Aubrey and Shane) but also required a "ticket taker in a suit" who at the last minute didn't show up, so I happened to be wandering down to set to find out it was going, found myself 30 seconds later up in Makeup, and shortly thereafter spent the next two hours filling in and playing the role!"

and...

"There's lots of talk about Season 7 of Degrassi and Season 4 of Instant Star--of course we haven't been ordered yet for either, but we've started the writing of 701/702 and 401/402 so we'll be up and running when we are ordered!

Last night was the wrap party for the cast and crew of both Degrassi and Instant Star--a LOT of fun, Nina pulled me onto the dance floor into a circle of Miriam, Cassie, Shenae, Deanna and soon the circle expanded into a much larger group!

As always the party was at an undisclosed location somewhere in the free world--and everyone was so upbeat and happy because it has been a great year!!"
