10/25/2006 - Filming Wrapping; Minis; "Mangasodes"

The Executive Producer Stephen Stohn posted a treasure trove of news recently. First off Degrassi will wrap up filming of season six the first week of December. He recently released the final list of episode titles.

He went on to say they have filmed eight of the mini-webisodes so far, that's half of the reported 19 minis this year. He adds they are also taking more time with the minis and filming them in high definition, so the quality will be much better than last year. Apparently Lauren (Paige), Deanna (Alex), and Stefan (Snake; director of minis) were talking and Lauren and Deanna had some wild ideas for some of the remaining minis.

Next he stated the Extra Credit graphic novels are now out in Canada and will hit US shelves in November. He added they are also doing two Degrassi "Mangasodes" as well; animated Degrassi episodes from the pages of the graphic novels. He had just finished talking with the sound team, and they should be finished in about three weeks.

Lastly he reported, the official Degrassi and Instant Star websites will be recieving huge makeovers, with the first changes coming within the next six to eight weeks, the final site makeover will be finished in about six months.

Here is his full posts below:

"Hard to believe it is nearing the end of October, not too much more of either Degrassi or Instant Star to shoot (we'll be finished Degrassi by the end of the first week of December, and finished Instant Star by the end of November).

We've now shoot about eight of the Degrassi Minis, and are just planning the shooting of the first four Insntat Star Minis... they are so much fun, the cast really enjoys doing them. On Thursday Lauren, Deanna, Stefan and I were chatting in the corridor (outside the Degrassi writers offices, which were dressed to look like the Admissions Office for Toronto University) and talking about ideas for more Minis, Lauren and Deanna came up with some pretty wild ideas!

We're taking longer to shoot the Minis this year, and we are shooting them in High Definition, so they look fantastic.

The Degrassi: Extra Credit comes out in the U.S. in late November I believe, just before the U.S. Thanksgiving weekend...

The Degrassi: Extra Credit graphical novels launch in Canadian bookstores starting today!!

I wsa just down at the lab talking with the team who will do the sound mix on the two Degrassi "mangasodes" that should be ready in about three weeks--animated webisodes from the pages of Degrassi: Extra Credit....

AND some major news about this website and the Instant Star website--some big changes are coming and you are going to like them!! The first changes could appear as soon as about six to eight weeks from now, but the full switchover will take about six months..."
