5/21/2006 - PCTC Degrassi Panel Discussion
(Audio Included)
On April 29th, 2006 at the Paradise Comics Toronto Comicon a panel discussion was held about Degrassi's Graphic novels and other upcoming future projects. In attendance were Executive Producer Stephen Stohn, Stefan Brogren (Snake), Miriam McDonald (Emma), Ryan Cooley (JT), Stacey Farber (Ellie), author J. Torres and artist Ed Northcott. Things discussed range from the novels themselves, the upcoming movie, season 6, mini-webisodes, Degrassi mobile, as well various stories from the cast about what it's like to be on Degrassi. Overall the panel discussion is quite entertaining and contained some big news about various things.
First off in Graphic novel news it was reiterated that the graphic novels will remain consistent with the show in terms of continuity. Also both the author and artist discussed their first encounters with Degrassi and there love for the program.
In other Degrassi news discussed from what we have been hearing it appears the movie has been delayed and now will not begin filming until at least next year, Kevin Smith is still front runner for director. The Degrassi Mini-episodes that have already been aired on The-N.com will come to Canada this June. There is talk of Mobile Degrassi content and "Mobisodes" which may be available on cellphones and Ipods in the future.
You can download a 25 minute clip of the panel discussion here. Thanks to issarged.ca for the news and the sound clip.
Other news that did not make it onto the sound clip includes a small season 6 spoiler in which Miriam reveals there will be a returning old flame of Emma's to
the series. And Stephen Stohn's mention of the possibility of Degrassi animations in the future.
